No Texture Please...

I had purchased a book of textured paper just to try out for my permanent marker drawings. After several attempts to work with the paper I realize I don't like it at all. The texture eats up my pen and I can't get as smooth, or fine, of details as I would like. As you can see from this sketch the lines are not as smooth as some previous drawings. I am glad I tried it however, it has been a good way to work on pen control, precision, and pressure.

This sketch is from my Vegas Journal. I have no clue what to call it...any suggestions?

Bubbles

This drawing reminds me of how bubbles float to the surface of water. It also reminds me of bubbles in a glass of soda.

Jeremy's Boots

This picture was commissioned by my dad. It was drawn from a picture of my nephew wearing boots and spurs. My mom had it framed and it now belongs to my eldest sister.

I think my mom did a great job. If I am correct she refurbished the frame herself.

My Mother's Hippo

This was a product of two college art classes. I think I started this as a sophomore and finished it as a senior. The entire time I was painting it my mother kept calling it "that Hippo painting" (for all of you who are confused it really is a rhinoceros). I painted it from a photograph in a National Graphic Magazine. In all the moving we have done since then the page I tore from the Magazine got destroyed. I have been trying to find another copy but haven't had any luck yet. Do you know how hard it is to find a specific picture when you don't know which volume, or date, or even year, it was published in? This is one of those times I wish I had taken better notes, or at least paid better attention.

Splash

Another drawing inspired by one of the shows we saw while on vacation. This show was a water show with acrobatics, diving, and synchronized swimming.

Mystery

While on vacation this last week we went to a few shows. This image is inspired by one of them. The show was full of acrobatics and tricks. The cast dressed in wild costumes depicting creatures which looked like exotic birds and other strange creatures. It was rather crazy but had some really fun and captivating moments.

Misty Morning

I worked on several drawings while on vacation this last week. This is one of them. It reminds me of how mist seems to float through the air in the fall.
